Well, we have come to the end of the series and I have to admit, I am a little sad.  What a series this has been!  You might have thought it would get a little stale by book 6 but let me tell you, this is definitely not the case.  

Book 6 continues to follow Aaron and his friends fighting against an alien invader to prevent the destruction of the earth however, aliens are not the only dangers they encounter so be warned!  Not everyone or everything is as it seems and, as is usual with Mr Wright's work, no one is safe.

I have become totally and utterly invested in the characters in this series; I have seen them grow and develop, at their best and their worst and I am sad to come to the end but what a perfect ending it is.

This is a gripping series and one I would highly recommend you read from the start.  I suppose you could just drop in with this book but why on earth would you?!?! You would be missing out on so, so much.

This is the fifth instalment of this series which needs to be read in conjunction with the others.

This is an excellent series which continues to capture me and I find myself taking every opportunity to snatch just 5 more minutes of reading to find out what is next to befall the excellent characters.

Be warned ... no one and nowhere is safe but that ending ... oh my!  I can't wait for the next which looks like it might be the last unfortunately.

Well, once again, Iain has excelled with this the fourth in the series of The Spread.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting back into this gripping story and finding out what hazards are set to befall the survivors and who Iain is going to dispatch next and how!  It wasn't long before I was hooked.

The Road is absolutely teeming with heart-in-the-mouth moments; the fungus isn't the only enemy as our survivors find out to their cost.  The story moves on at pace and is full of tension and numerous scenes of peril that had me holding my breath at times.  The characters, both good and bad, are excellent and no one feels like they have been just dropped in to fill the story.

I can't wait for book 5 to see what comes next but I am sure it won't be plain sailing or all sweetness and light but I guess I will just have to wait ... impatiently!!

What another great sequel to the previous 2 in the series ... you really have to have read them in order to understand the characters and the story otherwise you will be totally lost.

Once again, we are treated to an alternative take to the usual zombie story and the impact of an "invasion" on humanity.  I was gripped and itching to find out how my favourite characters will fair - remember, with Iain's books, no one is safe and just when you think things are going to work out, once again, Iain throws a giant spanner in the works and everything goes to pot.  

With excellent characters, both old and new, tension, thrills and definitely spills, The Stand is a great addition to the story of The Spread and my thanks must go to Iain for accepting me into his "street team" and for providing me with a copy in return for comments and an honest, unbiased and unedited review.

Following on from "The Hill", the first in this series and one which I do think you need to have read in order to get the full picture of just what the heck has gone on, this is another great book from Iain Rob Wright.

Here we have the survivors from "The Hill" making their way to "The Village" in the hope of safety and salvation.  What they get is quite the opposite.

Iain creates brilliant characters each with their own interesting back story and all with their part to play.  He also creates suspense, tension and the unexpected - one thing I have learned with Iain's books is not to get too comfortable with any of the characters no matter how big or small ... no one is safe!

This is an interesting take on the zombie theme and one which I am looking forward to seeing where it goes with subsequent books - I'm here for the ride and I know it's going to be bumpy!

I would definitely class myself as a fan of Iain's books; I have read a fair number and have rarely been disappointed.  Iain's stories take me back to the books of my youth and although I am a number of years past my youth now, I still enjoy a good horror/creep-fest book every now and again and Iain is more and more my go-to author.

Here we have the first in an as yet unknown number of books in a new series.  I can't go into much detail about the plot as I don't want to spoil it for anyone but a group of Manchester lads go on a stag weekend in the wilds of Scotland and whilst investigating the area, climb a hill and find something odd ... everything starts to go badly wrong from then on.

Well written, excellent characters, perfect setting, great pace, plenty of tension and excellent body horror scenes makes this a great read and I eagerly await Book 2: The Village which is out on 6th October 2020 ... I want to read it now!

Disclaimer: As a member of Iain's "street team", I was sent a copy of this book before publication however I didn't get chance to read it before it was published so decided to buy it anyway to support him so he can continue to write great stories and also because I'm good like that 😉
